DATA
Americans say youth sports deserve public funding.
More than half of U.S. adults (52%) say such support for sports would have the most impact at the youth and school sports levels, according to a survey commissioned by the Commission on the State of U.S. Olympics and Paralympics. Far fewer adults identified the Olympics (14%), Paralympic Games (7%), college sports (6%), and professional leagues (5%) as deserving of taxpayer support (State of Play 2023 report).
PCFC recognizes we are not in this fight alone, instead with you and organizations alike. Together we can break these barriers! Check out the links, and Project Play below for more details on the data, the vision we have ahead of us:
PROJECT PLAY
“Project Play, the signature initiative of the Aspen Institute's Sports & Society Program, develops, applies, and shares knowledge that builds healthy communities through sports. We identify access and quality gaps in sport activities for youth and help organizations to fill them, guided by one model and three strategic frameworks.”
In 2025, PCFC is teaming up with other youth sport programming here in Portland to share, observe, and provide data about Portland’s State of Play.
