MEET SAIDU

“Soccer is meaningful to me because it connects me to my dad.” - Saidu

Saidu is one of our high school players and an upcoming assistant youth coach. He started at PCFC in 2021, and in a short time has uplifted his teammates and has shown great mentorship skills to our young players.

Many of us know how sport connects people across families, friends, and our communities. Recently, Saidu shared a message with us, and we’d like to share it with you:

“PCFC means everything to me because they are my second family. They are there for their players and make sure no player feels left out. PCFC is important to our community because we treat each other like a family. They help any player, regardless of their skill to become the best athlete. I never thought I’d have the opportunity to learn how to coach younger players, and I want to thank PCFC coaches for believing in me.”

Saidu ended his message with his plans for the future:

“I want to go to college and play soccer, and go pro. Then I would like to become an accountant in the future.”

Saidu’s Favorite Soccer Position: Forward and Midfield
Assisting as a Youth Coach: U6 Team
Spring Season Award: Best Attendance

PCFC IS THE FUTURE OF SPORT

〰️

PCFC IS THE FUTURE OF SPORT 〰️

Now until the end of December, we are raising $10,000 to kick off our funding to support our Coach Mentor Program! This cause will provide mentorship and social-emotional education training for our coaches to better serve our youth!

Together, we can provide immediate and long-term benefits for Portland’s youth, their families, and communities by funding our Coach Mentor Training Program. Your help will deepen our coach's ability to create a positive culture and environment on and off the field by using trauma-informed and anti-oppressive coaching practices to create safe spaces.

Training like this will help support youth:

  • Understand and manage emotions

  • Set and achieve future educational and occupational goals

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships

  • Feel and show empathy

  • Learn to make responsible decisions

Our work is to build a community that supports positive youth development and fosters the love of play.

Will you help us raise $10,000 to support 12 Coaches who receive social-emotional and mentorship training in 2023?
